World Transplant Games

The Harrison Foundation was delighted to support this year’s World Transplant Games, held in Newcastle and Gateshead.

According to the organisers, there are around 6,080 people on the transplant waiting list across the UK and this includes around 150 children and teenagers. On average three people die every day who could have benefited from an organ transplant.

A core belief that runs through all Harrison Foundation activities, and those of our partners, is that everyone should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

That’s why we were pleased to support the Games and to meet some of the amazing athletes, many of whom had travelled great distances from over 60 countries to be there, and each with their own personal story.

Everyone who attended witnessed some amazing achievements in sports that included archery, cycling, tennis, squash and football.

The week-long event was a huge success. Congratulations to all the athletes and the organisers.
