Supporting a Community Tradition at Ponteland Party in the Park

The Harrison Foundation was pleased to support this year’s Ponteland Party in the Park, helping one of the area’s longest-running community events continue to bring local people together.

Held annually in Ponteland Park in Newcastle Upon Tyne, the event has become a well-established fixture in the local calendar, attracting families, community groups, charities and local organisations from across Ponteland and the surrounding area. The event features a wide range of activities, including live music, children’s entertainment, community stalls, refreshments and fundraising activities, creating an afternoon that can be enjoyed by all ages.

The Harrison Foundation’s donation helped support the delivery of the event and contributed towards ensuring that it remained accessible to the local community.

Representing the Harrison Foundation at the event was trustee Daniel Harrison MBE, who attended with his family and spent time meeting organisers, volunteers and local residents.

Reflecting on the day, Daniel said:

“It was a delight to support an event that has been such an important part of our local community for many years. My family and I had a great afternoon and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces.”

Events such as Party in the Park play an important role in strengthening community connections. They provide opportunities for local organisations to engage with residents and help community groups raise awareness of their work.

Party in the Park organiser Andy Anderson said: “This was the twenty-second time that the Churches Together have organised Ponteland Party in the Park and this year over 1800 people paid to get into the event. All the usual attractions were there. The BBQ and Tea Tent were very popular as usual. There was a large crowd in front of the stage to watch the entertainment. The Rock Choir, the Rep, Jill Errington dancers and the Wind Band all gave wonderful performances. Rev Andrew Sterling coordinated a short act of worship by all three Churches.

“We are very grateful to all the people who turned up to help set up the event. The event this year was sponsored by Ponteland Town Council, the Harrison Foundation and local businesses. We are grateful for all the support we received.”

For the Harrison Foundation, supporting local community initiatives remains an important part of our work across the North East and beyond. Alongside projects focused on education, sport and social mobility, the Foundation is committed to supporting activities that help strengthen local communities and improve opportunities for people to connect and participate.

Ponteland Party in the Park continues to demonstrate the value of community-led events and the positive impact they can have on local residents.
