Harrison Foundation Supports Potters Sports Field Restoration

The Harrison Foundation is proud to support the restoration of the Potters Sports Field in Antigua and Barbuda, a transformative project aimed at enhancing community sports, education, and wellbeing.

The restored sports field will benefit those living in the Potters community and far beyond. It has been designed to support nearby education facilities, including students from the Harrison Centre Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education, the Sir Novelle Richards Academy, and the Potters Primary School.

The upgraded facility will feature refurbished basketball, netball, and volleyball courts; a cricket and football field with a pavilion; a new baseball diamond for the Antigua Little League Programme; a children’s play area with modern equipment; a walking track for fitness and leisure; as well as floodlights, toilets, changing rooms, concession stands, and general parking.

Sir David Harrison, Founder of the Harrison Foundation as well as the Harrison Centre, is a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda and visited the site as part of the ground breaking ceremony.

Sir David said: “The Harrison Foundation is honoured to work with the Ministries of Sports and Foreign Affairs and the community of Potters to redevelop this space. Initiatives such as these are a meeting place for people of all ages and incentivise physical and mental activities. I look forward to seeing the project completed and for the local community, students, and the wider Island to make full use of a transformed facility.”

The work is due to be completed by the end of the year.

The project is led by Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, Antigua and Barbuda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and a native of Potters, along with a Steering Committee comprising representatives from local sports disciplines, community members, and technical experts.

The Harrison Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance community development and social mobility.
